How It Works

1

Enter your details

First name, last name, date of birth, cell phone. Confirm with a one-time text code. We run a credit check so lenders see a verified file.

2

See which lenders you qualify for

We check you against each lender's criteria and show the ones that fit. You pick who you want to hear from.

3

Those lenders reach out

The lenders you chose contact you by phone or text to finish the application. Banks.com doesn't quote rates. The lenders you chose do that directly.

Is This For You?

If two or more of these fit, it's worth two minutes.

Still on the rate from the day you bought

Financed when rates were high

Credit score is better than when you bought

The payment takes more of the month than it should

Vehicle 10 years or newer, under 150,000 miles

Credit score in the low 600s or higher

Why Banks.com

A verified panel

Every lender on the panel is named, vetted, and chosen by you. No lender you didn't pick ever sees your information.

You decide who calls

You choose which lenders contact you. We don't sell your information to buyers you never saw.

What we ask for

Four details to start. A credit check and a text code confirm it's you before any lender sees your file.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is auto refinancing?

A new lender pays off your current car loan and you repay the new lender on new terms. People do it to get a lower rate, a lower payment, or a different loan length.

What does Banks.com do?

We check which lenders on our panel you qualify for and connect you with the ones you choose. We don't lend money or quote rates. The lenders do that directly with you.

What information do you need?

First name, last name, date of birth, and cell phone number to start. We confirm your number with a one-time text code and run a credit check so lenders see a verified file.

Does a match mean I'm approved?

No. A match means you fit a lender's starting criteria. Each lender makes its own decision on eligibility and terms once you apply with them.

Who will contact me, and how?

Only the lenders you select. They reach out by phone or text to continue the application. You can decline any of them at that point.

Can I refinance with a different lender than my current one?

Yes. That is how refinancing usually works. The new lender pays off your current loan and your payments move to them.

What do the lenders look for?

Each lender sets its own criteria. Common ones: credit score, time on the current loan, loan balance, vehicle age and mileage, and payment history. The panel's floors start in the low 600s.

How long does this take, and when will I hear from a lender?

The check takes about two minutes. Lenders you choose typically reach out the same or next business day, by phone or text.

Does checking involve a credit inquiry?

Banks.com runs a credit check to confirm your file. If you move forward with a lender, that lender runs its own application process and will tell you what it involves.

What Auto Refinancing Is

Auto refinancing replaces the loan on a car you already own with a new loan from a different lender. The new lender pays off the old balance, and your payments move to the new lender under its terms. The car stays the same; the financing changes.

People refinance for a few reasons. Market rates may have moved since they bought. Their credit may have improved, which can qualify them for better terms. Some want a lower monthly payment and accept a longer term to get it; others want a shorter term to pay the car off sooner. Which reason applies depends on the loan you have today and what a lender will offer you now.

What Lenders Look At

Every lender on the Banks.com panel sets its own criteria, and the criteria are not identical. The factors that come up most often are your credit score and history, how long you have had the current loan, the balance remaining relative to the vehicle's value, the vehicle's age and mileage, and your payment history on the current loan.

None of these is a hard yes or no on its own. A lender weighs them together, which is why the same borrower can fit one lender's criteria and not another's. Banks.com checks your file against each lender's starting criteria so you only see the lenders where you fit.

How Banks.com Fits In

Banks.com is not a lender and does not quote rates or make loan decisions. We verify who you are, run a credit check, match your file against the criteria of the lenders on our panel, and show you the ones you qualify for. You choose which of those lenders may contact you. Those lenders then reach out by phone or text to complete the application on their side.

Banks.com is paid by the lenders on its panel. That compensation does not change which lenders you qualify for; the match is based on each lender's criteria and your file.

Check what you qualify for now. You choose who reaches out.

Banks.com is not a lender. We may receive compensation from lenders. Lenders determine eligibility and loan terms. A lender match does not guarantee approval.
